Michael’s musical journey began rather by chance: after being told he was unmusical when playing the recorder at school years earlier, he was given an acoustic guitar at the age of 13 and was immediately hooked.
He was lucky enough to receive guitar lessons from guitar teacher and instrument maker Frank Kellermann, which laid the foundation for his virtuoso guitar playing and understanding of hard rock and metal music. Role models such as John Petrucci, Matt Heafy and Jeff Loomis influenced his guitar style and sound from then on. He spent hours meticulously trying to play and sound like the masters and develop his own style.
Over the years, the idea of forming his own metal band matured. After a long and tough search for members, the female fronted metal band “Drowned by Darkness” was formed in 2011 in the Schwäbisch Hall area, which achieved great regional and national success before disbanding in 2014.
In the following years, Michael was the session guitarist for the Schwäbisch Hall Rock*Show at Kantine26, where he was responsible for songs from the heavier genre.
Between 2017 and 2019, he played guitar for the melodic death metal band Derry’s Revenge before career changes forced him to leave the band.
Michael joined Darkness Ablaze in July 2024 as the new lead guitarist.
