In 2002, childhood friends Ali and Jens formed a metal band in Jens’ parents’ garage, sparking the fire of Darkness Ablaze. With singer Theo as well as bass, drums and lead guitar, the band quickly gained traction in the local metal scene. After two demo tapes, the band released their self-titled debut album in 2007, which further raised their profile.
After a few line-up changes, Darkness Ablaze were signed by German label Black Bards Entertainment and released their second album “Shadowreign” in 2010. The band had developed a unique style of melodic death metal that combined symphonic keyboards with melodic guitars and brutal vocals. Their albums led to appearances at festivals and tours with well-known bands.
In 2011, Darkness Ablaze took an indefinite break due to personal changes among the band members. In 2018, however, founding member Jens decided it was time to rekindle the flame and brought together original vocalist Theo and a new line-up of drummer Markus, lead guitarist Marcel and bassist Sven. With a refreshed line-up, the band began working on new material.
In October 2021, Darkness Ablaze released the 4-track EP Creator on the up-and-coming label Darkstorm Records. For the first time, the music was released on CD as well as on digital streaming platforms.
In November 2023, the third full-length album “IT ALL SHALL BURN” saw the light of day. The album consists of nine tracks that demonstrate the band’s musical maturity and ability to create complex compositions. The intense and dynamic atmosphere created by melodic guitar riffs, driving rhythms and powerful growls, along with the thought-provoking lyrics dealing with themes of loss and inner struggles, further cemented Darkness Ablaze’s reputation.
“IT ALL SHALL BURN” has been highly praised by international critics and has been successful in several countries, further cementing Darkness Ablaze as an established part of the international melodic death metal scene. The band has a promising future ahead of them and will continue to captivate audiences with their unique musical blend and energetic live performances. Fans can look forward to upcoming live shows that showcase the passion and musical intensity of Darkness Ablaze.
In July 2024, Marcel left the band to move around the world. A new replacement was quickly found and Micha took over on 2nd guitar. The band lost another member when Markus decided to end his music career for personal reasons. But here, too, a replacement was quickly found: Sascha, who had already played drums on the album “Shadowreign,” returned to his “old” spot.
